Geez Newsletter – December 2015
Dear Readers,
It is hard to believe that this small, radical, ad-free, feminist, labour of love has made it 10 years, and yet here we are. Our 40th issue – coming soon to your mailboxes – commemorates the last decade of Geez: we include favourite photos and letters from past issues, contributions from former editors, and updates from our friends over the years.
And, we’re having a party to celebrate!
We’ll be meeting at The Nook Diner, 43 Sherbrook Street, on December 10 at 8 p.m. If you’re in Winnipeg (or surrounding area), we’d love for you to join us! RSVP at party[at]geezmagazine[dot]org.
Job opportunity – part-time Geez business manager
We’re looking for a person to join our Winnipeg team of co-workers. We need to focus more on financial and circulation development, and we got a small grant to make this happen. Responsibilities include some or all of the following: business plan development, financial development, grant writing, circulation development, and promotion.
This new part-time position is for 10 months, starting February 16, 2015, for 10 hours a week. Deadline for applications is December 31, 2015. Send applications to jobs[at]geezmagazine[dot]org. See the full job description here.
Editors’ annual appeal for donations 2015
December is a critical time for Geez magazine. We rely on a rush of subscriptions and donations. Last week we sent out our appeal for donations (see an online version here).
If you haven’t already made your contribution to support this work, please do so now if you can (see our donation page). If you are among our readers who make monthly contributions, great! Thanks for your ongoing support.
Two volunteer positions available

2. Editorial assistant: Assist with editorial, administrative and research tasks; respond to general emails from writers; correspond with writers after publication of each issue. Approximate time commitment: 2–4 hours per week; 1-year minimum. Ability to work in our Winnipeg office is required. Apply with a cover letter and resume to Aiden Enns by email to jobs[at]geezmagazine[dot]org.
Words for Advent
Editor Aiden Enns is writing reflections for the Advent season. In case you missed it, see the first one on our website.
Board members
Since our last newsletter, a few new people have joined our board of directors: welcome Mandy Elliot, Meghan Mast, and Carolyn Mount!
Call for sinners
Our Confessions editor, Margot Starbuck, is looking for more “sinners.” If you have a guilty pleasure, a superfluous habit, a silly indulgence, or a private pet peeve for which you need to be absolved, send your confession to Margot at sins[at]geezmagazine[dot]org.
Here are some other ways you can support Geez:

Thank you everyone for your on-going support of this important work of faith-inspired social justice, art, and activism. We hope you have a great holiday.
