Further Learning – Powers and Principalities

Cover Art, Geez 59: Powers and Principalities by Darryl Brown

Want to dig deeper in to the framework of powers and principalities found in Geez 59?

This work is powerful, challenging, and, we think, best held in community. We invite you in to conversation and further learning as we work through the themes and concepts together.

Luncheon Group Study

We invite you to join us for a lunchtime conversation with Geez staff that will guide us through some of the questions and activities found in the study guide. It’s free and all are welcome.

It will take place Wednesday, January 27 at 12-1:30pm EST.
Registration is not required.

Online Couse

Join us for an in-depth, three week online course focused on naming, exposing, and engaging the powers.

Each session will include reflection from one of our issue’s authors (Bill Wylie-Kellermann, Owólabi, and Nichola Torbett) as well as group discussion based on the Geez 59: Powers and Principalities study guide.

This course will take place on Thursday evenings, February 11, 18, and 25 from 7:30-9pm EST over Zoom.

We are asking for a sliding scale donation from $25-75. Yet, money will never be an obstacle, so don’t be shy if that doesn’t work for you.

Sign up by January 25 and we will mail you a copy of Principalities in Particular by Bill Wylie-Kellermann.

About the Issue

Powers and Principalities pull us back to roots of our biblical tradition. Just as we often describe today’s struggles through the language of systems, structures, and institutions, our scriptural ancestors spoke of powers and principalities, acknowledging how these more-than-human things took on a kind of creatureliness: a life, a spirit, of their own.
