Lament on the line
On Holy Saturday 2013, an ad hoc group of people, including Geez magazine, organized a lament service over an oil pipeline run by Enbridge in southern Manitoba.
The reason for the service was to lament our involvement in the systems that create climate change, and impoverish others around the world. They also lamented the threat posed to Indigenous people by the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline.
Because of the nature of the service, it was decided that it would be held at the place where an Enbridge pipeline crosses into the United States near Gretna, Manitoba.
