“You should do more to change the world”

“You should do more to change the world,”
they say. And then they stress the tremendous
urgency of the needs in the world, offer
inspirational stories of activist heroes, provide
steps for getting involved, throw in a Gandhi
quote and assure you that you too can make a
difference.

They would be right.

But maybe there are other paths to change.
Paths that start from a deeper, less strained,
place.

required if we are to navigate the complexities
of what is commonly called – for lack of a
term with fewer bandannas or placards in its
baggage – activism.
