Bill Mallonee in conversation and song

Our Reviews editor, Kurt Armstrong, has a side-job at a local church where he promotes events that explore the crossroads of faith and culture. He’s excited about alt country/rocker Bill Mallonee from Athens Georgia. Check out the details below. – Aiden Enns, publisher, Geez

St. Margaret’s Anglican Church and the Slater Maguire Lectures present acclaimed singer/songwriter Bill Mallonee for a rare Canadian performance and Q&A, Thursday, May 24th at 7:30 pm at St. Margaret’s, 160 Ethelbert Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

With more than 20 years of performing and over 40 albums to his credit, Mallonee’s songs and stories chronicle contemporary Americana with hard-won authenticity.

For fans of Uncle Tupelo, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Steve Earle, Neil Young, and, of course, Mallonee’s former band, Vigilantes of Love.

  1. I just saw Bill in concert the night after in Brandon. He talked to me before and after gig and his honesty and vulnerability did NOT surprise me but it was refreshing! I have loved Bill’s music for 5 years or so. He is too honest to be fully embraced by the evangelical community. That’s sad to say. We put on our plastic smiles and “attend” church. Bill wants none of that b.s. I think that’s awesome and Christ like. Keep playin Bill!
