While reading a vintage issue
on the throne or in the church,
the name “Geez” stood out to me
and this here’s what I’d seen:
We chose fair wages and snail mail, too
sustainable, tangible,
the Catholic nuns had all the fun
we made art out of guns
Capitalism won’t get you
into Heaven anymore
They’ll try to get you to conform
to their one size fits all poison
Now, Jesus don’t like money
No matter what the reason’s for
Now, Capitalism won’t get you
into Heaven anymore
Well, I read up in the news this morning
and the headlines said to me
“Sell out now, give us your life
We’ll give you peace and stability.”
Well, Geez doesn’t mess with the devil,
and we tried to stick to our word,
in the fire we chose death ourselves,
rather than death by conformity!
Capitalism won’t get you
into Heaven anymore
They’ll try to get you to conform
to their one size fits all poison
Now, Jesus don’t like money
No matter what the reason’s for
Now, Capitalism won’t get you
into Heaven anymore
Our bodies have become disconnected
from human decency,
No time for grief, no time for feelings,
only time to bleed,
But Geez, we tried to value people
over power and greed
We refuse to comply with the rules
in fact, we think we’re better off dead
Capitalism won’t get you
into Heaven anymore
